About KidStudy
Free learning at home for Prep to Year 5, in Australian English. For parents and teachers.
Who made it
A parent in Victoria made KidStudy for their own child, and shares it free with other families and teachers. It has no ads, no sign-up, no subscription and nothing to buy.
What’s inside
- Writing: handwriting worksheets in the Victorian Modern Cursive style to print, Prep to Year 5.
- Reading: levelled books for Prep to Year 3, with sound buttons for each word and an Australian voice that reads aloud after the child has had a go.
- Maths: practice for Prep to Year 3, from counting and shapes to place value, times tables, fractions, money and time.
- Science: short animated lessons for Prep to Year 3, each with something to try by hand, a quick game and a badge.
Reading, Maths and Science are made for an iPad; Writing makes PDFs for an A4 printer.
How the content is made
- The reading books, their pictures and the Australian voice are generated with Google’s Gemini AI. A parent then reads and checks each book.
- Maths questions are made by the page itself, on your device, every time a round starts. No AI is involved.
- The science facts in the lessons and books are checked by hand.
- Kobi the koala was made with Gemini too.
Gemini is used only ahead of time, when the content is made. Nothing your child does is sent to Gemini.
We take care, but mistakes can still slip through. If something looks wrong, trust your child’s teacher and the school’s books over this site.
Privacy
- No accounts, no ads, no cookies and no analytics or tracking.
- Nothing is loaded from other websites: the fonts, pictures, sounds and code all come from this site.
- Your child’s progress (books read, stars, badges, settings) is saved only in the browser on this device. It is never sent to us. It leaves the device only if you use Back up progress on the home page, and then it goes wherever you choose to save or send the file.
- Like any website, the hosting service (Microsoft Azure) may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and which pages were requested, for security and to keep the site running. KidStudy adds no tracking of its own.
Because progress lives only on the device, clearing Safari’s website data, or the browser freeing up space, can wipe it. Back up now and then. On an iPad, Safari and a Home Screen app each keep their own progress, so pick one and stick with it.
Curriculum
The content follows the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, and the worksheets follow the handwriting style taught in Victorian schools. KidStudy is an independent home project. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Victorian Department of Education or the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).
